Christine Robinson

Design Engineer

Christine Robinson graduated top of her class - twice. She completed both the NZ Diploma in Civil Engineering and the Bachelor of Engineering Technologies at Otago Polytechnic, and during her final year worked with Dave Charters on a footbridge design project. That led to part-time work and eventually a full-time engineering role at the end of 2020.

At DCL GRIT, Christine's work centres on structural and bridge engineering - combining hands-on inspection with design, assessment, and asset management. She brings over five years of experience across structural design and review, technical drawings, inspection programme planning and delivery, and technical reporting. Her experience spans road, rail, footbridges, cycleway bridges, retaining walls, tunnels, wharves, and a range of other structures.

One of Christine's proudest achievements is leading the full delivery of a 15-metre span road bridge for Mackenzie District - from initial inspections and geotechnical coordination through to structural design, construction drawings, construction monitoring, and contract management as Engineer's Representative. It's a good example of what she brings to a project: end-to-end thinking, sound technical judgement, and the kind of hands-on experience that makes designs work in the real world.

For Christine, Challenge is the GRIT value that rings truest - not just tackling difficult problems, but doing it collaboratively, learning from each other, and delivering work worth being proud of.

When she's not working, Christine is usually out exploring with her family and dog, on a netball or squash court, at the gym, or deep in a resin art project. She's equally happy with a good book and a quiet evening.
