Daniel Segetin

Lead Designer
Qualified Heavy Fabricator (Trade)

Daniel’s meticulous approach to design is shaped by years on the tools. He started out as a rigger, erecting structural steel for everything from houses to wind farms - so he knows first-hand what works on site, and what doesn’t.

A rugby injury saw him shift into drafting, where he’s since led groundbreaking projects like the seismic strengthening of a 14-storey precast building - the first in NZ to use viscous dampers at such large scale.

At GRIT, Daniel combines practical know-how with technical skill to solve problems before they leave the design table. He’s committed to making sure no one on site ever mutters the things he used to say about design engineers.

Down-to-earth and straight-talking, Daniel sees being yourself as the key to building trust with clients and colleagues alike. Outside of work, he’s a family man who’s happiest walking his dog on the beach and cheering his kids on from the sidelines.
