Turitea Wind Farm Peer Review

Client - Coresteel Date - 2020

The Turitea Wind Farm is located in the Tararua Ranges near Palmerston North, in the Manawatu -Whanganui region. When completed, the Turitea Wind Farm will be the largest in New Zealand and is believed to be in the top 5% of wind generation sites worldwide.  GRIT was engaged to peer review the engineering and design of the Coresteel Buildings structure for Mercury Energy’s Operations and Maintenance building.

This was not a typical peer review and resulted in carrying out a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the portal knee connections in the buildings due to the very high wind loads.
