Willie Sun
Structural Engineer
Willie is a Graduate Civil Structural Engineer, who completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) at University of Canterbury in 2021, with particular interest in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering. He is particularly interested in the soil-structure interaction and the dynamic response of a structure.
Originally from the seismic-rich region of Taipei in Taiwan, Willie is passionate about seismic assessments, structural analysis and design. He has a keen interest in analysing earthquake-induced hazards using a range of software including Python.
Willie’s final year research paper included quantifying the damping capacity of a vibrating steel structure. Willie is eager to be involved in engineering seismic-resilient communities in New Zealand.
When Willie isn’t playing badminton, he enjoys being surrounded by a myriad of challenging projects at GRIT.
